Over the past 35 years, Mike Kobler has specialized in identifying, acquiring and producing natural resources and infrastructure developments throughout the world. He has served in a variety of roles for start-up companies including, but not limited to, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Chief Executive Officer, President, Technical Advisor, Engineer and Project Manager. He has extensive knowledge in natural resource development, as well as, the design and construction of large infrastructure projects.

Mike founded Underground Energy, Inc. in 2007. He directed the company’s resource evaluations and acquisitions for conventional and unconventional thermal resources at project locations in California and Nevada. He is responsible for the company’s corporate management and operations, financing and investor relations.

Prior to Underground Energy, Inc., Mike was co-founder of OSUM Oil Sands, Inc., a private company in Alberta Canada involved in oil sands exploration and development. As Chief Executive Officer and Member of the Board of Directors, Mike provided technical resource evaluations and subsequent acquisitions focused on extracting and producing Bitumen from previously unexploited resources at various project locations. He was also responsible for securing the necessary financing to bring the company from start-up to a $500 million operation over the course of two years. The company has now grown to roughly $2 billion in net worth.

Previous to OSUM Oil Sands, Mr. Kobler was the founder and President of an engineering design and construction management firm for 15 years. Specializing in infrastructure development in California, Mike supervised a staff of over 20 engineers and technicians. Mike holds a BSC in Mining Engineering from Montana College of Mineral Science and Technology.

John Bean is a management executive who has increased revenues and profits and opened new markets. He has developed business plans, raised venture capital and negotiated deals with major corporations. John has built new businesses and has expanded existing businesses into new markets. He has led business development programs that resulted in multi-million dollar revenue streams. Mr. Bean has directed dozens of projects, which were completed on-time and on-budget.

Prior to joining Underground Energy, Mr. Bean was the principal of InSpire Consulting Services Ltd., providing bridge management services and senior executive counsel to CEOs in the areas of business strategy, sales & marketing, business development, financial management and general management.

Prior to founding InSpire, John was an Executive Vice President of SHL Systemhouse when revenues tripled from $400 million to $1.2 billion. He was a member of SHL’s Executive Council and was responsible for extending SHL’s global reach in Asia Pacific. He established joint ventures with Mitsui in Japan, with Tong Yang in Korea and with BHP in Australia. Prior to joining SHL, Mr. Bean was a partner with Accenture, where he developed a solid reputation for winning and delivering major business consulting services projects in the energy, communications, airline, financial services, construction, education, hospitality, real estate and manufacturing sectors.

Mr. Bean has served on the boards of General Fusion Inc., SyncWave Energy Inc., TAP Ventures, Inc., RSI International, BC Technologies Industry Association, Accenture’s CSTaR (Center for Strategic Technology Research), and Bobolink Daycare Society for Deaf Children. John has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia and is a Canadian Chartered Accountant.

Carolyn Walch , , , Senior Geologist

Ms. Walch is a California registered geologist with 34 years of professional experience in oil exploration and development, and environmental remediation. She has worked with major oil companies, state and county agencies, financial institutions, and small independent companies. She specializes in Phase I, II and III environmental assessments and hazardous material clean-up and disposal.

As senior geologist for Underground Energy, Carolyn provides geologic site investigation and assessment, well logs, surface data collection and interpretation, mapping, and project reporting. She also conducts land lease interpretation and mapping, as well as, seismic data analysis and interpretation.

Prior to Underground Energy, Carolyn worked as a professional consultant for oil and gas companies on projects located within the Santa Maria Basin, Ventura Valley, San Joaquin Valley and the Sacramento Basin. Her services included geologic site investigation and assessment, well logs, surface data collection and interpretation, mapping, and project reporting. She also provided environmental services for major oil companies, state and county agencies, financial institutions and small independent companies.

Carolyn received a MS in Geology from the University of Southern California and a BS in Geology from California State University, Northridge.

Over the past 25 years, Steve McLean has specialized in all phases of oil and gas engineering, with a strong emphasis on complex drilling, workovers and completions for thousands of wells located both domestically and throughout the world. He has served in a variety of roles including, President, Principal, Manager of Operations, Drilling Engineer, Drilling Superintendent and Production Engineer. Throughout his extensive career Mr. McLean has worked with numerous major and junior upstream oil companies including, Conoco, Unocal, Driltek and Benton Oil & Gas.

Steve founded Sentinel Oil and Gas Consultants in 2010 and as an independent consultant he is the Vice President of Operations for various oil companies. He directs the companies’ day-to-day production operations in multiple basins and oil fields throughout California. Steve is responsible for the companies’ drilling, workovers and completions in new and revisited project developments.

Prior to Sentinel Oil and Gas Consultants, Steve was co-owner of Driltek, Inc., an engineering consultant firm in Bakersfield, California. Driltek provided technical and operational engineering expertise for more than 100 major oil companies’ drilling projects. As a Principal, Steve was responsible for the planning, operations and management of a number of large, multi-rig drilling projects including the Los Angeles Basin. He was the Project Lead for two Los Angeles based re-abandonment projects, and was known for significantly reducing costs through improved well designs and area operational expertise.

Previous to Driltek, Mr. McLean was a Drillling Superintendent, Drilling Engineer and Production Engineer for major oil companies throughout California, including Conoco and Unocal. Specializing in complex drilling assignments, workovers and completions, Steve planned and supervised the production operations located on and off shore, both domestically and internationally. Steve holds a BS in Petroleum Engineering from Marietta College and a MA in Business Administration from California Lutheran University.

Dana Brock joined Underground Energy in 2007, as the Vice President of Engineering. His responsibilities include technical site investigation, geotechnical design, consultation for construction means or methods and oversight of the company’s thermal development team. He has acquired broad experience from 33 years of assessing and optimizing site conditions for energy projects. He began his professional career in the oil & gas industry assessing soil and groundwater conditions and designing facilities such as well and disposal sites, steam and water piping, water supply wells and large vessel foundations in California, New Mexico and Japan. Dana’s experience also includes coordination with regulators, stakeholders, activist groups and the general public for major projects such as: a geothermal power plant that included the largest horizontal well lateral on record; and major facilities for water injection and low temperature geothermal heating in U.S., Asia, Europe and South America.

Over the years as an industry professional, Mr. Brock has enhanced strategies for project site development to include both on- and off-site resources and techniques to maximize efficiency, minimize impacts and reduce waste from industrial processes. He has designed and managed construction of both solid and liquid geothermal waste disposal facilities; and developed several patents for energy conserving processes in the extractive industries. Dana has worked with organizations including, but not limited to: ARCO, Unocal, Radian, LaRoche and many others.

Mr. Brock has degrees from the University of California at Davis in Civil Engineering and Geology and is a Registered Civil Engineer, Registered Geologist, and a Certified Engineering Geologist in California.
