Underground Energy is proud to be supporting and improving the quality of life in the local communities where we operate.
In today’s fast business climate, it is important to keep honesty, respect and accountability at the forefront of all business activities. This is as true in the field as the boardroom, and nowhere is this more important than when working at the local level, in the communities in which we operate.
At Underground Energy, we attempt in all activities to carefully consider what our actions should be as a good neighbor. We make substantial effort to notify the community in advance of major activities, and to address concerns and avoid surprises. Yes, we also welcome candid conversation with our neighbors and community leaders, people we preferably know on a first name basis. We support our leaseholders by giving careful consideration to maintenance and improvements to their land and timely payment of rents and royalties.
It is said that a rising tide lifts all boats. We believe that an open, mindful business approach benefits all.
Simply stated, where we operate we pay taxes, generating considerable public dollars that support these same communities.
We are proud to create jobs and contracting opportunities for many local individuals and companies. For example, in the past year we have engaged over 50 local equipment contractors, materials suppliers and other professionals in Santa Barbara County alone. Although we hold our contractors and consultants to very high safety, quality and workmanship standards, they are rewarded with timely payment and repeat business.
During these challenging economic conditions, many of them have directly expressed appreciation for their increased local business activity due to Underground Energy’s endeavors.
Underground Energy believes in giving back. Since we opened in 2007, we have actively supported a number of local organizations through volunteer work and financial donations. We will continue to support more. A partial list includes:
